This report reflects the findings of a high-level assessment of the Art Song Transpositions Platform for its conformance with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 (WCAG 2.1).
There are several WCAG 2.1 AA compliance issues with the Art Song Transpositions platform and some of them are major issues that will significantly impact users with accessibility needs. For remediation it will be important to carefully review the WCAG 2.1 AA web standards. Below are the most critical issues to address to improve system compliance.
Top 3 Issues
- Keyboard Navigation: Currently there is no focus state for any of the interactive elements on the page. This is a serious issue and makes the website almost impossible to navigate for visually impaired users and users with decreased motor functions that require the use of a keyboard to navigate the web. This correction should be a priority. Additionally, there are no skip links at the top of the page to allow the users to bypass repeated content on the page to get to the main content. This is a level A requirement and needs to be remediated.
- Zooming and Scaling: This is a major accessibility necessity, especially for users that have visual impairments. Disabling this function makes it extremely difficult for a visually impaired user to navigate the site and needs to be enabled.
- Color Contrast: There are several contrast issues across the site that do not meet contrast requirements. (1) Many of the form fields are a light gray, (2) site’s primary yellow is too light against white. Additionally, there is one link that persists across the site that does not meet contrast with the background or the surrounding text and does not have a text decoration, so it will blend in for users with visual impairments.
